Privacy policy
Last updated:
This policy explains what data the Aura: Stop Doomscroll app (package com.adventure.aura, "Aura" or
"the app") and the website aura.devnode.tech handle, why, and what control you
have over it. In short: what you see on screen never leaves your phone, we have no servers of our own and
no user accounts, and the only data that leaves the device is collected by the Google services we use to show ads and
measure app usage.
1. Controller
The controller is DroidAdventure, developer of Aura. You can write to us at droidadventure.cm@gmail.com about any privacy question.
2. Data processed only on your device
Accessibility service
Aura uses the Android AccessibilityService API to know whether you are watching short videos or using your
messages in Instagram, YouTube, TikTok or Facebook, so that minutes are deducted only for short videos and the counter
pauses in your chats. To do so, the service checks, only in those apps:
- the package name of the open app;
- identifiers and types of interface elements (for example, the identifier of the Reels player);
- the window type and whether the keyboard is open;
- in TikTok and Facebook, the labels of the navigation tabs (such as "Inbox").
The service does not read or store the text of your messages, contact names, passwords or any content you type or receive. Every other app (including WhatsApp and Messenger) is discarded without being inspected. This information is analysed instantly and is neither stored nor sent to anyone, including us. The service never acts on its own: it only goes back when you tap a button on Aura's curtain. We explain this inside the app before asking for the permission, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings > Accessibility.
Usage data stored on the phone
To work, Aura keeps in your device's local storage:
- your minutes bank: seconds used and earned per day and your base balance and daily limit settings;
- your progress: XP, level, streak and the history of recharges (activity type, time, seconds and XP earned);
- your preferences: protected apps, language and theme;
- daily curtain counters (how many times the balance ran out and which button you tapped).
Aura does not send this data off your phone. If Android backup is turned on, the system may include it in your Google backup, under your own account. It is deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its data in Android settings.
Camera
The current version of Aura does not use the camera. If a future version includes camera workouts, images will be processed in real time on your device, never stored or sent, and we will ask for the permission only when you choose that feature.
3. Data collected by third-party services
Google AdMob (free plan ads)
The free plan shows a banner on the main screen and, if you choose to, rewarded ads. To serve and measure them, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect your device's advertising ID, IP address (and the approximate location derived from it), device and app information, ad interactions and diagnostics. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland we ask for your consent through Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) before loading any ad, and you can change your choice in Settings > Ad privacy options. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's Google settings.
Google Analytics for Firebase
We use Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used in aggregate. We only send product events such as "onboarding completed", "recharge completed" (activity type, seconds and XP), "level up", "streak updated", "PRO screen opened" or "card shared" (with the level). We never send screen text, messaging app names, contacts or the content of your conversations. Firebase links these events to an app instance identifier and collects technical data such as the device model, Android version and country.
Google Play
The app is distributed through Google Play, which handles data under its own terms. When Aura Pass PRO becomes available, payments will be handled by Google Play: we never receive your payment details.
More on how Google uses this data: Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from apps that use its services.
4. Purposes and legal bases
| Purpose | Data | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Run the app (minutes bank, recharges, progress) | Local and accessibility service data | Providing the service you ask for; you grant the accessibility permission explicitly |
| Show ads on the free plan | AdMob data | Consent where the law requires it (EEA, UK, Switzerland); legitimate interest in funding the free app elsewhere |
| Measure and improve the app | Firebase Analytics events | Legitimate interest in improving the product with aggregated data and no personal content |
| Answer your questions | Your email and what you write to us | Your request |
5. Retention
Local data is kept until you uninstall the app or clear its data. Firebase Analytics events are kept for the retention period set in Google Analytics, at most 14 months. AdMob data is kept under Google's policies. Emails you send us are kept as long as needed to help you.
6. Who we share data with
We do not sell your data. The only third party that receives data is Google (AdMob, Firebase and Google Play), as described above, plus authorities when the law requires it. Google may process data outside your country, including the United States, with the safeguards set out in its terms (such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses).
7. Your rights
Under the applicable law (such as the EU GDPR or the privacy laws of your country or state), you can ask for access, rectification, erasure, restriction or portability, object to processing, and withdraw consent at any time. Since we have no accounts or servers, most of your data only exists on your phone and you can delete it yourself; for ads and analytics data, write to droidadventure.cm@gmail.com and we will help you exercise your rights with Google. You can also complain to your data protection authority. If you live in California: we do not sell personal information; you can limit the use of your advertising ID for personalised ads in your phone's settings.
8. Children
Aura is meant for people aged 16 or older and is not designed for children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16; if you believe a minor has given us data, write to us and we will delete it.
9. Security
The app's data stays in Aura's private storage on your device, protected by Android's security model. Google's SDKs send their data encrypted (HTTPS).
10. This website
The site uses no cookies, forms or analytics tools of its own. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) may log technical data about visits, such as the IP address, to serve and protect the site.
11. Changes
If we change this policy, we will publish the new version on this page with its date. If the change is significant, we will also let you know inside the app.
